What should I write?
2026 Day 164. #PersonalDays.
I am always half-way through writing a blog everyday. It has been a wonderful journey so far and it has helped me in numerous ways that I have detailed in various blogs.
The majority of my blogs have been about personal thoughts and ideas that I have wanted to share with the world. Some of them have been about technology, business, travelling, and more recently food.
While I do enjoy writing, there are some extremely productive days and some obviously unproductive ones. Recently I have been having more unproductive ones because I feel like I am running out of ideas.
Earlier I had much too many ideas. This was mainly because
- Everything was exciting.
- I was more eager than ever (New Year’s resolutions tend to have this effect).
- A lot of was unsaid.
- I was making quick progress across a lot of areas.
Things are still exciting, but I want do not want to put all of the ideas on the internet just yet. These ideas need a lot of polishing before I put them to test, and only after would I like to write a blog or two about them.
The slowness in the energy is probably due to the fact that I have on-boarded to this new hobby that I wanted to try out. I have gotten better at thinking and writing and seemed to have a plateau in terms what I am getting back from writing. These blogs were never about building a community but more about putting ideas to pen so that I am able to express myself better. I feel like I have gained a lot, and any new learnings seem to be a mile away.
Many thoughts and ideas keep finding their way back into out minds again and again. I am sure that across the many blogs I have written, I have repeated some thoughts in my writing as well. A lot has been said, and need not be repeated. I still agree with the ideas that I had set out before, although now I could be articulating them out better.
The other hobbies/work that I have picked up earlier was also progressing much better. I recorded my first 10K, 15K, and half-marathon attempt. I have since not attempted anything more than a 10K because I do not need to prove to myself that I can do it, I know I can, I just need to do it faster. So I train as much as I can, but Zone 2 can be a little boring and unexciting to talk about. The progress is also slower, but it is definitely doing me good.
Work has also slowed down a bit, I am no more learning new design ideas and tricks everyday, I am instead focussing on one thing and doing deeper dives. These deeper dives sometimes involve complex mathematics, expensive hardware, or boring efforts that yield a very thorough understanding or explanation but there is very little to share with others.
While I would love to have ideas pour in from readers, I am afraid my blogs are not that popular yet. For now, I will look at some of the prompts that Medium publishes at the beginning of each month and try to get some work in.
I am committed to this personal goal. I want to do this, and I will get this done. Over the next year I plan to move from daily to weekly blogs. Instead of writing a daily blog about a new topic everyday, I will move to single blog with multiple ideas inside it.
I am happy with the progress, and there is more to come.
See you tomorrow.
